Have a heart for homeless pets

By Lynn Zahorik

Animal lovers are invited to tune in to 9NEWS KUSA/KTVD on Thursday, February 11 for the Dumb Friends League “Have a Heart for Homeless Pets Telethon.”

The 18th annual telethon will air during news programming and commercial breaks from 5:00 a.m. to 10:35 p.m. The event will feature adorable, adoptable pets and touching stories of homeless animals whose lives have been changed because of community support.

Pet lovers who are unable to watch the telethon can still make donations online at ddfl.org/telethon, by texting the word “PET” to 41444, or by calling 303-751-5772.

Last year, 76 pets went to new homes and an estimated $290,000 was raised through the annual telethon.  In 2015, the Dumb Friends League saved nearly 18,000 homeless pets, many of which received medical care, behavior training and foster care.  Funds raised from this year’s telethon will help the Dumb Friends League continue to open its doors to all animals in need.
