Buffalo Ridge goes back to prom

Buffalo Ridge Elementary (BRE) parents reminisced their way Back to Prom at the school’s annual fundraising gala held on Friday, February 24 at Cielo at Castle Pines. There were 175 people in attendance, many dressed to the nines in tuxedos and gowns in all sorts of fun styles and colors.
This year’s gala raised more than $49,000, which was a 31 percent increase over last year. Event Co-Chair Jen Taylor remarked, “The excitement and enthusiasm that our community brought to the fundraiser this year was incredible. This shows continued momentum, and we can’t wait to see what next year will bring.”
There was a full dinner catered by Exquisite Taste Catering, a DJ from Sound Master Entertainment and dancing. There was also an illusionist, Ryan Henderson, walking around performing. There were silent auctions, as well as live auctions. A heads or tails game was played during the live auction with the prize being a seven-night stay at a private Mexican villa on the Pacific Coast.
Some popular auction items were a townhouse in Breckenridge, a condo in Vail, two footballs signed by the entire 2016-2017 Broncos team, Disneyland park hopper passes, golfing in Castle Pines, and a Sunday, funday champagne brunch and spa/makeover day. There were also gifts of time (experiences with teacher) donated by all of the teachers.
BRE Principal John Veit said, “All of our teachers provided input regarding what and where we needed support throughout the school. Classroom teachers, specials teachers and our specialists all provided input and helped guide our purchases. It’s great when school administration and our teachers are in alignment with our needs. We will be putting many new and renewed instructional materials in the hands of our students – from leveled reading books in the classroom, online subscriptions for literacy support, science materials, programming materials, and math instructional supports. We’re also able to acquire additional flexible seating for our general education students, as well as for our special education population. All of us at Buffalo Ridge are so appreciative of our community and the support they continue to wrap around our school. I am so thankful to be at a place where we all come together to put the needs of our students first!”
The BREA co-president added, “On behalf of the BRE community, Valerie Miller, Jeni Knox and the rest of the BREA, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the hard work and excitement our fundraising Co-Chairs Jen Taylor and Diana Netto and their husbands and families provided to pull off such a successful event. We are lucky to have such dedicated parents at our school.”
