Lisa Storey opened Little Italy’s dining room on January 31 to volunteers from the Gameday 14 U Angels Baseball team. The group put together 3,000 goodie bags for the Zackari Parrish 5K Run/Walk #BackTheBlue event.

The sold-out February 3 race at the Douglas County Event Center raised money for the Parrish family and the Fallen Officers Fund, and it also provided an opportunity to celebrate the men and women who protect the community everyday.

The pre-race goodie bag preparation included pizza, cookies and drinks for the volunteers, and the bags included Little Italy gift certificates among other treats.

“Mama Lisa’s feels privileged that we were able to help in the fundraising efforts for the Parrish family and the Douglas County Fallen Officers [Fund],” said Storey. “Like many, we felt the desire to help show our support for the family, our community and for those who put their lives on the line daily.”

There are all kinds of ways to give and support those in need, and on January 31, Storey, the Little Italy team, and a group of volunteers came together with enthusiasm and warmth for a worthwhile cause.
