Wow. What Has Happened to Customer Service
May 2011
I purchased 13 trees from Holly Acres in April 2011 and had them delivered and planted at my home in late April. Three of the 13 trees did not survive, while 10 of them remain healthy. When I recently contacted the person I bought the trees from from to see if they offer guarantees on what they sell, I received the following response.
"
Mike,
We have no such policies at our nursery, if you were having trouble with your plants you purchaced in April- you should have called me in May, I may have had a chance to help you...Not after a long hot summer. This is exactly the reason we have no such policy. People blame you six months after their purchace. I cant be liable for all of the plants on the eastern plains. Im not Home Depot. I can however assist you in growing, and if you are having trouble- If I cant fix the problem, I may then decide to buy a new plant for you. I have never lost a lilac and if it never sprouted...you should have called, at this point how do I know you even watered it? You didnt give me a chance to advise you so Im not going to purchace you a new plant.
I am sorry for your loss and greiving."
OK. So I could have contacted her earlier, and I can understand questioning the care of the trees as a reason for their demise (when 10 of the 13 trees are fine and healthy, I would hope she would understand that they were all cared for equally), but to receive such a "glib" and "insincere" response warrants others knowing how Holly Acres Nursery takes care of their clients.
Goodbye, and good ridence.
