Groundbreaking for DCSD Elementary School 50

Future students (far left) join community leaders and DCSD Superintendent Erin Kane with shovels in hand for the official groundbreaking of Elementary School 50 in Lone Tree.

Community leaders celebrated a milestone on February 4, breaking ground at the future site of Elementary School 50 (temporary name), at 11151 Adage Road in Lone Tree. This is the first ground-up elementary school DCSD has built in more than 15 years.

The new school will serve approximately 750 Pre-K through sixth-grade students in the rapidly growing Lyric at RidgeGate neighborhood. Principal Doug Humphreys joined DCSD Superintendent Erin Kane and construction officials in marking the beginning of the project.

“It is so important that we provide the neighborhood elementary school experience for our kids in our new communities,” said Kane.

The new school is scheduled to open for the 2027–28 school year. It is funded by Douglas County voters through the 5A bond that passed in 2024.
