Charter school delivered bundles of cheer

American Academy students and siblings show a few of the many toys donated during last month’s toy drive. The Wileys, left to right: Michael (2nd grade), Victoria (6th grade) and Elizabeth (4th grade).

American Academy delivered bundles of cheer to kids and families during the holiday season. The school-wide toy drive benefited A Precious Child (APC), a nonprofit that supports children and families facing poverty, abuse and crisis. Middle school students donated gifts for APC preschool-aged children, while younger classes shopped for their own grade levels. The drive collected more than 900 toys, which were delivered by parent volunteers.

Students celebrated their participation with donut and popcorn parties.

More than 900 unwrapped toys were donated this year to American Academy’s toy drive benefiting A Precious Child.
