Crisis Center unveils new name

For 40 years, the Crisis Center has been a beacon of hope, providing shelter, therapy, advocacy, and healing to countless domestic violence survivors and their families. Over the decades, the organization has evolved and recently launched a new brand identity to reflect the growth of its mission and expanding ways it serves our community. The Crisis Center is now called Ember Center.

Using an ember from a fire as a symbol of resilience, light and the enduring strength of every survivor they serve, this new chapter is more than a fresh look; it represents its evolving mission and commitment to serving survivors of both domestic violence and sexual assault, broadening the support to survivors of all forms of abuse and helping to fill a critical gap in services.

“We identified an overlap in our clients’ needs and the services we already provide and we also saw gaps in support by other agencies that needed to be filled,” said Ember Center Executive Director Amy McCandless. “We have partnered with The Blue Bench, a comprehensive sexual assault prevention and survivor support center, to help close those gaps.”

The mission of Ember Center is to end domestic violence and sexual assault through therapy, advocacy, outreach and prevention. Annually, the organization provides direct services to nearly 400 adults and children impacted by domestic violence, approximately 30% of which utilized more than one service. The Ember Center serves Douglas, Arapahoe, Elbert and Lincoln Counties.

“With this growth in mission and offerings, Ember Center stands on a renewed promise that anybody who reaches out to us will find safety, advocacy and healing, no matter their experience, background or journey,” said Amy. “Our emergency shelter, therapy, community-based and legal advocacy services continue, uninterrupted.”

Ember Center plans to launch its full rebrand with a new website and collateral materials early this year and celebrate with a ribbon cutting event in March.
