Modern medicine meets personalized care

Dr. Block and John consider them “our Cove Guardians” as they bring a sense of nature and wonder to the waiting room.
Walking into The Cove Concierge Medicine (Cove) and visiting with board certified family medicine physician Aaron Block, M.D. is like stepping back into a time when doctors made house calls. His attention, humbleness and warmth fill the room. Cove is located next to AdventHealth Castle Rock.
As the son of a physician and dietitian, Dr. Block, the oldest of three boys, was the one to follow in his dad’s footsteps. He practices family medicine and performs minor in-office surgery, just like his dad.
He was valedictorian of his high school, attended the honors college at The Ohio State University, and received both a masters degree in public health and a medical degree from the University of South Florida. He also served as chief resident at Wright State University in Ohio.
Dr. Block’s education is strong, and his accolades are far reaching, but it is the human side of his path that really shines. In 2013 and 2014, he was honored with back-to-back humanitarian awards from his neuroscience professor, Dr. Samuel Saporta. “That was really, really humbling,” said Dr. Block. He also served on the board at Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County in Ohio with his commitment to all-inclusive healthcare.
In Florida, Dr. Block met his husband of 13 years, John Waters, an advanced practice nurse and nurse practitioner, and his partner at Cove. The couple chose Colorado to be surrounded by sunshine, mountains and many friends who are like family. Plus, Coloradoans tend to be more health-conscious. Together John and Dr. Block are building relationships and caring for patients of all ages and stages in this community they love to call home.
As a concierge medical practice, Cove is all-inclusive for an annual fee. Check-ups, urgent situations while home or traveling, anything and everything that can be handled in-office, through telehealth, or over the phone—plus coordinated care—is included (certain procedures may encounter a small fee). This means being able to dive deeper, to listen more actively and to not be limited to 20-minute, insurance-restricted appointments.
“There is no question that is off limits. It’s incredibly difficult to embarrass me,” Dr. Block offered.
Melissa Gordon, M.D., a retired pathologist, and her husband, Dave, are two of Dr. Block’s patients. They recently moved to The Village at Castle Pines from Dallas and researched many primary care providers. “Dr. Block’s thoughtful, comprehensive approach to care is matched by both expertise and compassion. It’s reassuring to know that my husband and I are in such capable hands as we navigate the years ahead,” said Melissa.
As Menopause Society Certified Practitioners, Dr. Block and John are equipped to offer evidence-based education and care for women in perimenopause and menopause. And, in the spirit of community, they share their office space with a physical therapist astute in pelvic floor disorders and a physician assistant dedicated to veterans through Warrior Vets.
In January, Dr. Block was honored with the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce Community Member of the Year award. “It was huge for me,” he said. Last year, Dr. Block was named one of 40 under 40 by the Colorado LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce as an outstanding business and community leader. He is also part of the Leadership Douglas County class of 2026.
Outside of work, Dr. Block and John love hiking, whitewater rafting and gardening. “One day, I’ll have a greenhouse; I could garden all day long,” smiled Dr. Block. Their dog Ranger, a 3-year-old vizsla, has lots of energy and keeps them busy.
“John and I, to the best of our abilities, want to be authentic health care providers. We are a small family-owned business, and we are really hoping our community will want to invest in us. But for that to work, we have to be really good at what we do,” concluded Dr. Block.
