Newborns cuddle up in DCSD onesies

Born on February 14 at HCA HealthOne Sky Ridge in Lone Tree, baby Brooks brought new meaning to Valentines Day love for parents Ryley and Moriah McConn. Brooks is a healthy baby boy and potential future DCSD graduate.
Adorable “future graduate” onesies are being gifted to newborns across the county by the Douglas County School District (DCSD). It is all part of the Healthy Families Partnership (HFP) of Douglas County, a community-based source for maternal/child health and family wellness.

When babies are born at a Douglas County hospital—including AdventHealth Castle Rock, AdventHealth Parker, UCHealth Highlands Ranch and HCA HealthONE Sky Ridge—families receive items from the HFP, including a onesie from DCSD with a thoughtful note.
According to Amy Pfister, DCSD community relations coordinator, the onesies include a diaper pinned message: “Congratulations on your new addition! We know it’s a few years away, but your baby’s school years will be here before you know it. Let’s put a pin in it for now, but in a few years, we’ll still be here for you. In the meantime, check out our website and get to know Douglas County School District, the top scoring district in the Denver area!”
DCSD shared that approximately 500 babies are born in Douglas County each month; this means 6,000 each year, making for a lot of future DCSD students.
The HFP includes 15 community partners and was convened in 2023 to provide supportive information and services to Douglas County families on topics such as car seat and child passenger safety, child development at all ages and stages, coping strategies for new parents, perinatal mental health and safe sleeping habits.
