Castle Pines man heading to Haiti seeks donations

By Lisa Crockett

Craig Cook, a Castle Pines resident who works as the Chief Architect of Cloud Services for Longview Systems, is heading to Haiti next month in an effort to help the earthquake-ravaged country. Cook and 15 of his coworkers will spend a week building playgrounds and delivering school supplies.

“The devastation there really is mind boggling,” said Cook. “A million and a half people have been permanently displaced. The cleanup and rebuild is taking a very long time and most children have only abandoned, derelict buildings to play in which is obviously not very safe.”

The delegation of volunteers from Longview Systems, an IT solutions company, has thus far raised nearly $25,000 and is working with two groups in their endeavor to lend a helping hand: Reach Haiti and Haiti Outreach Ministries.

The group is still accepting financial donations, as well as donations of school backpacks, geometry supplies and ballpoint pens. To request more information, e-mail. To make a financial contribution, visit www.rally.org/helpingkidsinhaiti/donate.
