Annual Victoria’s Tea fundraiser
The Castle Rock Historical Society and Museum held its eighth annual fundraiser, Victoria’s Tea, on May 17 at Kirk Hall in Castle Rock. Seventy-five attendees savored English tea, scones and chocolate-covered strawberries while learning some Colorado history.
Janice Baker regaled the audience with the story of her great, great-grandmother who traveled the Santa Fe Trail—Santa Fe to St. Louis and back—five times via wagon train, before marrying an officer and settling near Trinidad.
The tea is named in honor of Victoria Christensen, who lived her entire life in Castle Rock. Born May 17, 1889, Victoria was active in the community inheriting her home from her parents. Today, Victoria’s House is the office space of the Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce.
