The Elevated Edit – April 2026

Dear Readers,

Easter is right around the corner and the old school fashion dictates would have you believe that you can START wearing white! Historically, Easter was a major church and social debut moment when people wore new spring outfits and Easter bonnets.

In traditional fashion etiquette, Easter symbolized the beginning of the spring social season and that meant pastels and lighter fabrics started appearing, white elements became acceptable again and winter blacks and heavy fabrics started to fade out.

Well, that is some old school thinking. I’d like to bring you around to the new sartorial rules for wearing white. Today’s rules are basically around style rather than calendar: March – April, white pieces start appearing naturally; May – September, full summer white; October – February, the creamy whites appear. Fashion editors are saying to wear white whenever you want, but there is one lingering etiquette rule regarding the wearing of white: Guests should not wear white to a wedding because it competes with the bride. And that rule still holds.

The real guidelines are according to temperature and fabric, not holidays. Think linen white for summer and creamy white woolens to create winter chic. Wear white jeans, sneakers, coats and sweaters year-round. If the outfit works, the calendar doesn’t matter.

You’re looking good!

Big Love,
Mrs. Abramovitz
