A Dodgers fan in Rockies country

Noah Swant is your typical sixth grade boy who loves the game of baseball and to follow his favorite team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. It came as no surprise that he was one of the first students to sign up for the Timber Trail Elementary BASE (Before and After School Enrichment) summer outing to watch the Colorado Rockies take on the Dodgers at Coors Field in June.
Even though many of his friends were cheering for the Rockies, Noah stood proudly in full Dodgers gear. “Noah’s a pretty big fan, even when others are rooting for the home team,” said Emily, his mom.
Four years ago, the Swant family—Justin, Emily and Noah—moved to The Village at Castle Pines from Redlands, California, a community east of Los Angeles. For several years, Noah has played second base for a Castle Rock club team, the Astros.
Born in Los Angeles, Noah’s love for the Dodgers was shaped early on by time spent with his grandfather and his Uncle Zach. Noah would sit for hours with them watching the games on TV, soaking in every pitch and every play. One special memory was last year during Game 1 of the World Series. Noah, watching with Uncle Zach, got to see history in the making: Dodgers player Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off grand slam, the first in World Series history.
Last summer, while attending an animatronics camp in Los Angeles, Noah received a surprise gift. His grandmother gave him tickets to see the Dodgers play the New York Giants at Dodger Stadium in an unforgettable game, where Noah saw two home runs.
“My goal is to someday get season tickets to the Dodgers,” Noah said. Until then, he will keep cheering for his team no matter where he lives.
