A workout studio for everyone

Power Mixx Fitness owner Melissa Finkelstein
When Melissa Finkelstein opened the doors to Power Mixx Fitness in the Village Shops five years ago, she was not just launching a second location in the south Denver Metro area; she was continuing to build on her commitment to creating an inclusive fitness studio where everyone feels welcome. “I want people to step into our studios and feel like they belong, right out of the gate,” said Melissa.
That sense of belonging is what Melissa said sets Power Mixx Fitness apart because it is a space where people of all ages and fitness levels can come not only to build strength but to gain confidence and feel supported. The studios offer the Lagree Method, a high-intensity, low-impact workout that focuses on strength training.
“We have clients as young as 16 and our oldest is in her 80s,” Melissa shared.
Melissa, who holds an undergraduate degree in business, always had a passion for building something of her own. But it was her years spent coaching her four children in youth sports that truly shaped the vision behind Power Mixx. “I loved watching my kids and other children grow and become confident in themselves and become better athletes,” Melissa recalled. “I really wanted to find a way to incorporate that into my future life as far as business goes.”
That vision became reality when she opened her first Power Mixx Fitness in Parker eight years ago and then again at The Village at Castle Pines, drawn to its charm and sense of community. “I love Castle Pines,” exclaimed Melissa. “As soon as I saw the space, I knew that was it.”
But just six months after opening, the pandemic hit. “We were worried we were going to have to close this location before we really got started,” Melissa said. “But all of the clients we had at the time rallied around us and really helped us stay open.”
Today, Power Mixx Fitness is thriving. Melissa leads a team of 14 employees and serves her many clients between the two locations, offering 80 classes per week.
Melissa leans on the help of her husband, Andrew, and four children, Jordyn (21), Caden (19), Greyson (18) and Rylan (16), who all pitch in behind the scenes.
When they are not at the studio, the Finkelsteins enjoy traveling, hiking and attending sporting events together. One of their favorite family memories was a recent trip to England and France. “We were lucky enough to get all of our kids together,” Melissa said.
Melissa remains committed to the community she has built. “It doesn’t matter if someone has worked out their whole life or if they are just getting started,” said Melissa. “Our community of instructors and clients will take care of them.”
