Join The Connection to “Complete the Classroom”

Kindergarten teacher Miss Taylor showing off a few items that were purchased by community members for her classroom. Teachers oftentimes spend their own money to buy items for their classrooms not supplied by the school district.

Douglas County students head back to the classroom this month. With limited budgets, many teachers need and hope for extra supplies in their classrooms–pencils, disinfectant wipes, index cards, etc. They also oftentimes spend their own money to purchase furniture items, classroom activities, reading materials and fun items like classroom decorations, plushies and stickers. Many teachers have “wish lists” online, and items desired for the classroom are listed there. We want to join in on the fun and contribute.

In an effort to help local teachers “Complete the Classroom,” The Castle Pines Connection is partnering with businesses, neighbors and anyone who wants to join us in support to purchase those supplies.

Interested in contributing?

If you are interested in contributing to our Complete the Classroom drive – and no dollar amount is too small – please send an email to accounting@castlepinesconnection.com and indicate the amount you would like to contribute. A sponsorship invoice will be emailed back to you, where you can pay online, mail a check, or pay by credit card. Or, you can simply Venmo us with this QR code:

In October , all the pledges will be tallied and one teacher/classroom will be selected from each of our six local feeder schools to have items from their classroom supply wish list purchased.

So, who are the lucky teachers?

If you would like to nominate a teacher from American Academy, Buffalo Ridge Elementary, DCS Montessori, Timber Trail Elementary, Rocky Heights Middle School or Rock Canyon High School for us to “Complete their Classroom,” send a note (100 words or fewer) to editor@castlepinesconnection.com telling us why that teacher is deserving of this fun surprise. Indicate the teacher’s name, grade and school (not included in the word count). Nominations are due by September 30. We will pool the nominations, draw winners and present a Complete the Classroom check to the teachers in October.

Are you a business contributing?

All businesses and/or organizations that contribute will be included in a “Thank You” ad  with editorial recognition that will run in The Connection with the photos of the check presentations, as well as social media recognition.

Thank you to all teachers for everything you do and best to all of our schools and families for a successful school year.
