Living life with heart and hustle

To sit across from Vivian Murciano is to feel the magnetic pull of someone who leads with purpose. With her calm confidence, sharp intellect, and heart-centered focus, she commands a rare kind of presence—one that inspires. As Vice President and Managing Broker at LIV Sotheby’s International Realty in Douglas County, Vivian oversees nearly 40 of the region’s top agents.

“I’m in the people business. Culture and leadership are everything to us at LIV Sotheby’s,” Vivian shared. “My role is about inspiring, recruiting, and coaching—helping our agents thrive in an industry that demands both heart and hustle.”

And while real estate is often seen as a highly individual profession, Vivian sees it differently. “This business thrives on collaboration,” she said. “Yes, it’s competitive, but when we create a culture of sharing, support and strategy, everyone wins. That’s what sets us apart.”

Born in Cuba to parents who wanted a life free from communism, 2-year-old Vivian left Havana with her mother, a college professor, her father, a bank owner, and sister in 1961, a few days before the Bay of Pigs Invasion. The family landed in Miami, quickly adapted, went to work and became proud Americans.

“The impetus for my work ethic is from my parents,” said Vivian, who has never returned to Cuba. At age 19, she left Miami and moved to Colorado.

After building a professional career and raising a family in Colorado, Vivian returned to Miami for a chapter that would prove pivotal—she reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Dr. Raul Murciano, Jr., a founding member of Miami Sound Machine and a dean at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.

Vivian began her career selling ads for the Yellow pages. Driven daily by her attitude of showing up, talking to people and goal setting, Vivian worked her way up to senior leadership roles at US WEST Dex, USA Today and Comcast.

“I didn’t even know I could sell,” she laughed. “But I kept showing up, talking to people, and setting goals. That’s still the formula today.”

By 2010, Vivian was considering retirement—until Raul offered a challenge: “What if you became an entrepreneur?” That question lit a new fire in Vivian. She earned her real estate license, joined Keller Williams in Miami, and quickly found her rhythm in the high-stakes world of luxury property.

In 2020, the mountains called her home again. She and Raul returned to Colorado, where Vivian served as managing broker at another brokerage in Denver before joining LIV Sotheby’s in July 2024.

Today, Vivian is the heartbeat of LIV’s Douglas County presence, working from both the newly renovated “LIV Lodge” at 482 W. Happy Canyon Road and the Wilcox Street office in Castle Rock.

Outside of the office, Vivian remains deeply connected to her community and the arts. She and Raul support Opera Colorado, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and El Sistema Colorado. She also volunteers with CASA and recently joined the Village Castle Pines Garden Club. At home, she enjoys time with her beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Stanley, and her daughter Alexandra, who lives nearby in Denver’s Central Park neighborhood.

Vivian’s leadership philosophy is simple, yet powerful: “Have the courage to lead and be humble.” It is a message that echoes through every chapter of her life.

The Murcianos are world travelers, seen here in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in December 2024.
