Lowry Beer Garden 2
An extraordinary space converted for the community
As we say goodbye to summer and usher in cooler days, fall also brings Oktoberfest. What better spot to celebrate and experience the German beer festival than at a converted airplane hangar? Tucked under the wing of an authentic B52 bomber, outside the entrance to the Wings Over the Rockies Air Museum, is Lowry Beer Garden.

Located at 7577 East Academy Boulevard in the Lowry neighborhood of Denver, family fun is served up every night at the Lowry Beer Garden. This outdoor garden is a wonderful place to enjoy with your family, share some great food and meet new friends. It has all of the charm of a European garden with Oktoberfest-style picnic tables, shady trees and twinkly white lights. For the sports enthusiast, there are three flat screen TVs and ping pong tables to show off your athletic prowess. For the more low-key attendees, there are countless board games and playing cards to entertain.
The Lowry Beer Garden is one of several restaurant partnerships from City Street Investors, a Denver group of investors known for their transformative impact. According to City Street Investors, “In their creative effort, the team is able to custom craft projects to the needs and desires of a neighborhood, ensuring not only the financial success of the investment, but creating value in the community overall.”
City Street Investors believes that the presence of their projects “should bring people together and make them happier” by correlating the needs of a community to make it a better place to live and work. Their success is evident with other restaurant partnerships such as Rocket Ice Cream, Officer’s Club, Cholon Downtown, Corridor 44, Edgewater Beer Garden and many more throughout the Denver area. Arvada Beer Garden opened in July, and future developments include Broomfield Town Square and Edgewater Town Square.
The Lowry Beer Garden fosters a community atmosphere where people can come together and socialize over 16 beers on tap that showcase regularly-rotated Colorado craft beers, often bringing in rare or hard-to-get brews. A customer favorite, 90 Shilling has a new take as a lightened traditional Scottish ale. Another popular craft beer is the Strawberry Rhubarb, offering sweet to tart with a burst of strawberry aroma and bites with every sip. The garden also sports a full bar with wine and cocktails. Currently, the summer cocktail menu features a coconut express martini, pineapple jalapeño margaritas and an Aperol spritz to beat off the summer heat.

For the food lovers, their selection of casual fare is outstanding. The quick-serve menu style perpetuates the authentic beer garden feel. “Build it yourself” German bratwurst and sausage include favorites such as the Coloradan, which is an elk jalapeño cheddar brat with pepper jack cheese, roasted poblanos and chipotle aioli. Burgers can get upgraded to Rock River Bison or pay homage to the museum with options like the Hangar 2, B-52 Bomber and Station 18 burgers. Salads, wings, cheese curds and sweet potato fries are just a few of the many treats to enjoy. A popular option is the Santa Fe burger with crispy onion straws and jalapeños with a chipotle ranch, loaded fries with queso, bacon and jalapeños, and the German pretzel.
Rocket Ice Cream is just outside the entrance of the Lowry Beer Garden and offers sweet treats to complete your experience at the garden.
The Lowry Beer Garden can seat more than 400 guests during the spring and summer, and up to 150 guests during the fall and winter. Parties of 20 or fewer can typically find seating without reservations. The new Party Deck is perfect for hosting a private gathering like graduation parties, baby/bridal showers and reunions for up to 35 people.
The Lowry Beer Garden celebrates all the best things about Colorado – the outdoors, casual lifestyle, incredible weather, craft beer and fresh local products. At Lowry Beer Garden, it is about people coming together as a community and getting to know neighbors. With more than 4,500 square feet of outdoor garden fun, the Lowry Beer Garden is sure to be a hit during Oktoberfest; visit the website for information on upcoming events.
