Mixed-use development proposed in Castle Rock

A 31-acre, multi-use proposed development, called The Brickyard, is planned for west of I-25 on Prairie Hawk Drive in Castle Rock.
A proposed mixed-use development near downtown Castle Rock is in the works. Called The Brickyard, the urban renewal area will include a four-star hotel, six new restaurants, a state-of-the-art recreation center, an entertainment venue, plus 500 homes, primarily apartments and town homes.
Just west of I-25 on Prairie Hawk Drive, the 31-acre site is currently home to the Acme Brick Company, hence the name, “The Brickyard.” To pay homage to the history of the area, developers plan to use repurposed Acme bricks in construction.
The first phase of development is the 145,000-square-foot rec center with basketball, volleyball and pickleball courts, as well as fitness facilities, an indoor track and pools for competitive swimmers.
A traffic study is underway and there will be a new road built to connect the development to Plum Creek Parkway. A walking trail will be expanded from downtown Castle Rock through The Brickyard to the Miller Activity Complex (see related spotlight on pages 13-14 in the August E Guide insert).
With approvals in place, rec center construction could begin this month and be set to open in 2027.
