The Connection partners to deliver a little more good news

As part of a new partnership, Mr. Tony receives a copy of The Connection when he gets a hot meal from Nourish Meals on Wheels.
This partnership is about feeding the whole person—body and spirit.

A new partnership between The Castle Pines Connection and Nourish Meals on Wheels is delivering more than just hot meals, it is bringing uplifting local stories right to the doorsteps of Douglas County’s most isolated seniors.

As part of a broader exploration into how to have a positive, meaningful and supportive impact on more lives in Douglas County, The Connection began testing the appetite for “a little good news” with clients of Nourish Meals on Wheels, a nonprofit organization delivering free scratch-made nutritious meals to residents in the south metro area (see The Connection May 2025, “Angels Among Us: Scratch-made meals delivered with smiles and care”).
For the past several months, The Connection has provided enough newspapers for every Nourish Meals on Wheels client in Douglas County to receive a copy of the paper with their meal delivery, at no cost to the nonprofit.
Volunteer drivers, who already bring warm meals and friendly conversation, now also deliver inspiring stories, relevant news and timely information—a welcome connection for those who may not have easy access to digital news or regular in-person interactions.
Publisher Terri Wiebold said the mission of The Connection aligns well with the Meals on Wheels program. “The meals meet a physical need, while meaningful human connection and access to community news meet emotional and social needs. This partnership is about feeding the whole person—body and spirit,” she said.
Both organizations see this collaboration as more than just a delivery of newsprint. For many recipients, the arrival of the paper will be a reminder that they are part of a vibrant, caring community. The information inside, from neighbor spotlights to city and county programs and coverage of local events, serves as a bridge between those who are homebound and the wider world around them.
“Our clients have shared how much they enjoy reading The Connection,” stated Nourish Meals on Wheels Executive Director Nancy Falk. “It’s a small gesture that really brightens their day.”
