Update: Two classrooms, one (published) story

Following the release of Earth’s End: Journey to the Mountains, DCSM students proudly signed copies for guests and their Japanese co-authors at an official book signing at Books Are Awesome in Parker.
In an update to an article published in The Connection in April, Earth’s End: Journey to the Mountain is a picture book written and illustrated by middle school students from DCS Montessori (DCSM) and Nakamura Junior High School (NJHS) in Tokyo, Japan. The bilingual book was created through the OneWorld Book program as part of DCSM’s Action Creation Exploration class, which combines creative writing with cultural awareness. Two classrooms from two different cultures came together to create one fictional story.
Last month, an official book signing was held at Books Are Awesome in Parker following the book’s release. Three of the 12 Japanese authors came to Colorado be a part of the event.
Because the project was a success, a sequel and a pen pal program are under discussion.
