Valor girls golf and lacrosse take state titles

The Valor girls golf team took its fourth 5A state championship title in four years. Ella Scott (second from right) was named Colorado Player of the Year.

Valor Christian High School (Valor) ended its school year with accolades and honors in both girls golf and lacrosse, proving they can dig deep with determination and perseverance.

At the 5A state championship golf tournament, sophomore Ella Scott made the final putt on the 18th hole for the win at Todd Creek Golf Club in Thornton. This is the fourth year in a row that Valor won––the first team to do so in more than two decades. The team, the same four from last year, won 30-over 462, a 28-stroke victory over Legend High School. Ella was named Colorado Player of the Year.

On May 16, Valor girls lacrosse won its first-ever 5A state championship at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium in Denver, beating ThunderRidge High School 12-8.

Team captain and defensive player Delaney Stafford explained that despite some bumps, the girls’ victory was due to strong bonds with each other.

“We faced a lot of adversity this season as our head coach resigned two weeks before the season started,” said Delaney. “Thankfully, God worked in amazing ways and brought in Samantha Geiersbach as our coach. Everyday, Sam stressed how important team culture is and that we all respect each other.”
