Veterans Affairs clinic open in Castle Rock

Nearly 150 veterans, their families and community members attended the grand opening and ribbon cutting (pictured top) of the new Castle Rock VA clinic.

Douglas County veterans now have access to local Veterans Affairs (VA) care.

A ribbon cutting ceremony last month celebrated the grand opening of a new VA outpatient clinic at the corner of Prairie Hawk Drive and Dacoro Lane in Castle Rock. The clinic is ready to support the nearly 27,000 veterans in Douglas County, including 8,000 veterans in Castle Rock.

The new 24,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility will provide veterans with both primary and mental health care, as well as radiology and lab services. Social work and nutrition assistance are also available, bringing essential VA care closer to home for many veterans. The first patients were welcomed through the doors in May.

According to Paul Roberts, interim director for the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (VA ECHCS), Douglas County is recognized as one of the fastest growing regions for veteran enrollment and demand for services within the VA ECHCS. “Our goal is to provide veterans with the quickest and best care, and we are dedicated to making that care accessible within their own communities,” he stated.
