X Drive swings to half a million raised

Golfers and volunteers line up in an X formation ahead of the X Drive Classic on July 28. The “X” photo is a tradition at the annual golf tournament to show awareness for Fragile X Syndrome, the most common known genetic cause of autism spectrum disorder.
This year’s X Drive Classic golf tournament (X Drive), held at The Club at Pradera on July 28, sold out in less than 24 hours. The event raises awareness of Fragile X Syndrome and supports organizations that assist children and adults with autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities.
A massive milestone was reached this year when the $65,000 raised took the grand total, since the tournament’s inception in 2014, to more than $500,000. The X Drive was started by Matt and Kari Ansay from The Village at Castle Pines to support Treeline Pass and The Joshua School, both nonprofit organizations.
More than 1,500 golfers and 300 volunteers, many from the Castle Pines community, made this year’s event not only possible, but incredible. “Your time, your heart, your impact. Thank you for showing up, giving back and making a difference,” said Kari.
Fragile X Syndrome is the most common cause of inherited intellectual disability and the most common known genetic cause of autism spectrum disorder. It is caused by a change in the FMR1 gene on the X chromosome.
