Veterans Day Celebrations | American Academy

Veterans and their families gathered in the American Academy gymnasium to celebrate Veterans Day and honor those members of the armed forces who have touched the lives of the students and faculty.

American Academy students celebrated veterans and their families with a breakfast and an assembly. The students gifted custom T-shirts to each vet.

During the dedication, Boy Scouts who are students presented the colors. Kindergarten teacher Jordan Stifle led the choir in the national anthem and then sang a solo of “America the Beautiful,” bringing the audience to tears.

Eighth grade students Colton Thompson, a cadet in the Young Marines program, and Rachael McLean, student council president, gave speeches about different branches of the military and their personal connections to servicemen and women.

Air Force Reserve Major Josh McCrary spoke about being grateful, being a good wingman and dreaming big – all life lessons he learned from his time in the service.
