Dear Mrs. A – June
Dear Mrs. A.,
We’re all so excited that the local pools are open. How about a little reminder on good behavior while we’re there?
-Tanning at Turquoise Terrace
Dear Tanning,
Isn’t it exciting and aren’t we fortunate to have our community pools. I’m happy to remind everyone that a little courtesy goes a long way around and in the water.
Let’s start with entering the pool. Yes, it is good etiquette and courtesy to shower before entering. This keeps the oils, lotions and dirt out of the water. And as a former lifeguard, I can’t stress enough that running and rough housing on the pool deck can end in accidents that can ruin the entire summer. About the volume, keep noise levels reasonable. If you want music, put in your earplugs, not everyone will want to jam to your jam. Children should be supervised at all times, even if a lifeguard is present. Respect the posted rules and the lifeguard instructions.
Don’ts include: swimming if you’re sick, having glass containers at the pool, leaving trash and debris (clean up after yourselves) and swimming in lap lanes or designated lanes for swimmers.
Lastly, use toys responsibly, store them when you’re done and remove larger floats if the pool is crowded.
Don’t forget to thank the lifeguard! A kind word goes a long way, a small treat is a kind gesture, and for someone who goes above and beyond, let their manager know.
Love this time of the year!
Big Love,
Mrs. A.
