Fourth of July events nearby

The City of Castle Pines has no events planned for Independence Day this year, but several are happening nearby. Many are free and open to the public, and some require registration, so check websites for details. While some venues in Colorado now present drone or laser light shows to avoid potential wildfire danger, the events here include traditional fireworks.

Castle Rock

At the Douglas County Fairgrounds, start the day at 6 a.m. with the 5th Annual July 4th ROCK-IT Run to increase awareness and raise funds to help veterans and first responders find mental wellness. The event includes a 5K, a half marathon (relay optional), a 1K Little Run for those 8 years and younger, a Patriotic Pets Parade and a free post-race concert. For full details and race entry fees, visit runtochangelives.org/rock-it-run.

That evening, in the Town of Castle Rock, a 15-minute fireworks show starts with a three-shot salute at about 9:30 p.m. from the former Acme Brick facility at 401 Prairie Hawk Drive. Depending on your viewing location, the fireworks might be visible up to three miles away. In case of rain or severe weather, the show will be postponed to July 5. Highlands Ranch

The Highlands Ranch Fourth of July celebration kicks off with a 5K run/walk at 7:30 a.m. starting at 9352 Dorchester Street. Find the patriotic kettlebell hidden on the course and bring it to the finish to win $100! The Pet & Bike Parade follows at 8:45 a.m. along Highlands Ranch Parkway, with the main parade at 9:00 a.m. The day concludes with fireworks at 9 p.m. at Highland Heritage Regional Park, 9651 South Quebec Street, weather and fire restrictions permitting. For full details, visit hrcaonline.org/Events/Calendar.

Lone Tree

The City of Lone Tree celebration includes both daytime and evening events. During the day, enjoy the Family Fun Ride & Stroll at 9 a.m. along Willow Creek Trail and the Family Fun Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting at Prairie Sky Park, 9381 Crossington Way. The Fun Park is free to attend and requires registration, and some items inside the park may have a fee. In the evening, the Party in the Park at Prairie Sky Park starts at 6 p.m. and a patriotic fireworks display follows at 9:30 p.m., weather permitting. The fireworks can also be viewed from other nearby locations. For full details, visit cityoflonetree.com/cityevents/july4.

Parker

The Town of Parker’s annual remote-viewing July 4 fireworks show starts at 9:30 p.m., weather permitting, with the fireworks launched from just north of Salisbury Park, 11920 Motsenbocker Road. The park will be open to the public, with limited parking available and no additional activities. The display can be enjoyed from other public areas around the community and will be visible up to two miles away.
