School supply drive

The Foundation for Douglas County Schools (Foundation) coordinates the Lend A Hand School Supply Drive every summer, with the goal of collecting, purchasing, assembling and distributing backpacks and school supplies to students in need. In its 16th year, the drive helps distribute more than 1,500 backpacks annually.

Lend A Hand ensures that every student starting the 2026-2027 school year will have the supplies they need to help them be successful. This program continues to be possible through the generosity of the Douglas County community.

There are four ways to help:

1. Purchase school supply items and drop them off at the Foundation Offices (620 Wilcox Street), any Douglas County library or other locations listed online.

2. Donate—100% of all donations will be used to purchase backpacks and school supplies. Donations of any amount are appreciated; $25 buys a backpack with a full set of school supplies for one student.

3. Volunteer to help collect and inventory donated school supplies; put together backpacks and distribute school supplies at drive-through locations.

4. Hold a drive at your work, in your neighborhood or with your friends and local community. The Foundation will provide the donation box and marketing materials and asks that you register your drive online.
