Catch and release fishing is now available at Rueter-Hess Reservoir.

Catch and release fishing opened at Rueter-Hess Reservoir on August 4 and will run through October – Fridays through Mondays, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., by reservation only.

Twenty-five anglers per day, with valid Colorado fishing licenses, will be allowed to fish for the stocked walleye, yellow perch, largemouth bass and channel catfish, to name a few.  Anglers who are 15 years old or younger, who are not required by the state to have a license, are not required to register but may still fish.  Only artificial lures and flies and single and barbless hooks are allowed.  Bait is not permitted.

Fishing from the shore, paddle board, canoe or kayak is allowed but motorized vessels or belly boats are not allowed.

There is no charge to fish, but if you plan on driving to the reservoir, there is a $10 charge for parking.  The entrance is off Hess Road in Parker, about 4.75 miles east of I-25.
