Free transportation in Douglas County expands to Castle Rock
This service area map highlights 12 popular Link on demand destinations across Castle Rock, Lone Tree, Highlands Ranch, and select areas of Parker.
Castle Rock residents now have access to free, on-demand transportation following the July 31 expansion of Link On Demand into Castle Rock.
The service will take riders anywhere within the Castle Rock service area, as well as directly to and from destinations in Lone Tree. Riders traveling to Highlands Ranch or select areas of Parker can use designated transfer hubs to connect with another Link On Demand vehicle.
“Link On Demand is about much more than transportation—it’s a program helping people get to work, make it to medical appointments, run errands and stay connected to friends and family,” said Castle Rock Mayor Jason Gray. “We’re excited to offer this service to Castle Rock and add another amenity that strengthens our community and enhances our residents’ quality of life.”
“I think it’s great that Link on Demand is expanding because it can help students get to school if they don’t have a ride,” said Caleb Yocum, a sophomore at Rock Canyon High School. “It can also help young people get to jobs and get a good start toward their future.”
The service is open to everyone and Town officials say it may be especially helpful for older adults, people with disabilities and residents who do not have access to a vehicle. Officials also hope it will make it easier for residents to reach medical appointments, work, shopping and other destinations without worrying about parking.
Link On Demand hours are Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. There is no Sunday service. Typical wait times are 10 to 25 minutes, depending on demand. Wheelchair accessible vehicles are available.
The service is available to riders age 13 and older. Younger children may ride with a parent or guardian, but riders must provide their own car seats if needed.
The one-year pilot program is funded by Douglas County, a Colorado Department of Transportation grant and the Town of Castle Rock, who is contributing $400,000 toward the estimated $2 million annual program cost.
