Seeing through the eyes of a pet

Castle Pines loves its pets beyond a shadow of a doubt. From daily “walkies” to full pages of photos in the paper, pet owners know their pets love them back. But can they really know?
Meet medium Susan Tucker, who has lived in The Retreat neighborhood with her husband, Paul, for 23 years. Susan began sensing animals’ emotions and impressions as a child and later developed those impressions into professional practice. Susan studied techniques for focusing impressions and validating details with owners, refining her approach through experience and feedback.
Susan maintains a professional stance and welcomes skeptics while encouraging owners to use her work as another tool in caring for their pets. “I feel honored to share what animals are telling me,” Susan said. “I also respect that people have different beliefs.”
Susan grew up in Canterbury, Connecticut. She attended Quinebaug Valley Community College and met Paul in 2003. She began her career as an animal control officer / kennel technician and realized in 2010 that she wanted to focus full time on being a pet medium. Susan and Paul have four children and six grandchildren. The family enjoys celebrating the holidays together in Summit County and occasional winter vacations in the Caribbean.
From favorite toys or even verbal descriptions, Susan determines a pet’s receptiveness to being read. Each animal chooses a different way of communicating, depending on the pet’s personality. Dogs, said Susan, are very communicative about how much they “treasure” their owners as transmitted by sensations of intense love and loyalty.
Susan said that pet owners commonly ask questions such as whether their animal is content, desires a companion or is experiencing physical or emotional discomfort. A dog she read once wanted the owners to know it was not excited that they wanted to get another puppy.
When people experience pets jumping into its owner’s suitcase before vacation, Susan confirms that pets sense the excitement about travel but worry about how long their humans will be gone. Once, Susan walked through a horse barn and received a surprising message from a horse: the mare wanted to bare a foal. The owner later confirmed she was entertaining the idea of breeding the mare.
Susan has helped to locate 10 lost animals over the years. “I can see through the eyes of the pet and describe landmarks and clues all over the country,” she explained. She is currently working on a missing pet case in Philadelphia.
