STEM Hybrid school offers new options

by Mary Elizabeth Johnson and submitted by Marti Bacon

STEM Hybrid (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) is a new school connected to the STEM Academy located in Highlands Ranch. Its doors opened on August 24, with more than 45 students attending.

Hybrid offers math, writing, literature, science, and applied science ~ including electricity/ circuitry, flight, forensics, rocketry, robotics and survival skills to students who are homeschooled part-time. The program also supports high school students who are attending college classes as well.

Hybrid will serve middle and high school students on Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. throughout the school year. Parents will remain very involved with the school and the student’s hybrid experience. These classes will offer hands-on activities, projects, experiments, authentic writing opportunities, field trips, and differentiated learning structures. With small class sizes, Hybrid will have the flexibility to meet the individual student’s needs. Hybrid students will also be able to take advantage of STEM’s after school Academy offerings which relate to the STEM philosophy.
