How many people believe they can write a book? Or wish they could? One young writer has made this dream a reality. Kaylee Schuler, a sixth grader at DCS Montessori Charter School (DCSM), is the author of “Midnight – A Wolf’s Tale.” Though she began this manuscript at the age of eight, it was three years before Schuler completed the story and held the finished book in her hands.

When asked why she chose this topic for her first novel, Schuler shared that she has loved wolves since the age of six. Her hope is “to teach other kids the truth about wolves so they might want to help save them.” Schuler is currently working on the sequel to Midnight. Her second manuscript, “Ashes in the Wind,” is the story of Midnight’s mate and her life journey.

On the road to publication, one way to potentially get your work in front of editors or agents is to enter contests for writers. Schuler enters contests and was, in fact, the winner of the Colorado League of Charter Schools essay contest earlier this year.

Schuler is a young lady who knows what she wants and is pursuing the dream of being a writer. If you are interested in reading “Midnight – A Wolf’s Tale,” the book can be found on-line at www.TheBookPatch.com
