Douglas Land Conservancy annual fundraiser

Douglas Land Conservancy (DLC) hosted its annual Under a Wild Sky fundraiser on Saturday, September 20, at the historic Beeman-Duncan Ranch in Sedalia. More than 300 guests attended in support of DLC’s mission to protect and steward open space in Douglas County.

The evening featured a ranch-style feast catered by Wide Open Saloon, a dessert bar and signature Tennessee Lemonade cocktails. Guests enjoyed live music from country artist Randy Burghardt and ended the night with line dancing led by Larkspur Dance Fitness.

A silent auction offered more than 80 items, from vacations in Mexico, Portugal and Iceland to jewelry, original art and tickets to the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Attendees also had the chance to view ranch history displays and hear stories from Dr. G. Marvin Beeman, whose family once lived on the property.

The speakers at the event celebrated the conservation of the Beeman-Duncan Ranch and the importance of protecting land for future generations. Ranch owners Kevin Hollern and Erica Hilliard were recognized for their stewardship.

DLC extends its thanks to the volunteer committee, event sponsors and all who attended for making the evening a success.

Next year’s Under a Wild Sky will be held on August 29, 2026, at the Maytag Ranch, south of Castle Rock.
