DAR bench dedication to Castle Rock
The Castle Rock Chapter of the National Society of the DAR surrounding the bench at Festival Park they commissioned to commemorate Colorado’s 150th and America’s 250th birthdays. To commemorate Colorado’s 150th and America’s 250th birthdays, the Castle Rock Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) commissioned a memorial bench for the Town of Castle Rock. The dedication was last month at Festival Park in downtown Castle Rock.
Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, State Senator Lisa Frizell, Commissioner George Teal, Mayor pro-tem Laura Cavey and Town of Castle Rock’s Councilman Tim Dietz and Councilman Mark Davis attended the dedication.
The bench was designed by A.K. Welding from Trinidad and paid for by a grant from Liberty Media and member sponsors. Barbie Avis was the creative welder.
“I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the elected officials for their words of appreciation for historic preservation and their appreciation of DAR’s community service for veterans, active military, education and history,” stated Janice Baker, regent for DAR and Sapphire Pointe resident. “Their words were genuine and their time was sacrificial.”
The DAR would also like to thank the welding company and welder as well as Councilman Dietz and Castle Rock’s Parks and Recreation Department’s Director Jeff Brauer for helping to facilitate the process.
