Just when you thought the Philip S. Miller Park and Miller Activity Complex (MAC) couldn’t get much better, a new feature has opened – the adventure playground.

This outdoor super-playground sits on three acres and is nestled into the park’s natural landscape of grassy hills and large shade trees, surrounded by expansive views.  The playground includes a 60-foot hillside slide, climbing ropes, VIP swing, hillside climbing bridge and net, disc swings, elephant play spinner, hillscapes playground, tot swings, sand play features, and a large dome climber.

The 270-acre park opened last fall and offers miles of hiking/biking trails, 200-step challenge staircase, athletic fields, and the wildly popular Castle Rock Zip Line Tours.  The 65,000-square-foot MAC facility features an indoor leisure and four-lane lap pool, kiddie swim area, waterslide, vortex whirlpool, 3,000-square-foot indoor play structure, 5,000-square-foot trampoline area, and full-sized and half-sized synthetic turf athletic fields with drop-down batting cages.

Construction of the park’s Phase 2 area is underway and is expected to open by the end of 2015.  The new area will have picnic pavilions, outdoor fire pits, restrooms, a splash pad, mature landscaping, grass play areas, a one-mile looped accessible concrete trail, a millhouse events building, an outdoor amphitheater, a pond, and additional parking.

Philip S. Miller Park is located at 1375 West Plum Creek Parkway, west of I-25, in Castle Rock.  For further information, visit www.CRgov.com/MAC.
