Celebrate Summer Solstice at Elk Ridge Park

Celebrate Summer Solstice at Elk Ridge Park

Come celebrate the longest day of the year at the Castle Pines Summer Solstice Fair at Elk Ridge Park on June 21 from 10:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. This fun-filled and educational family event, brought to the community by the Castle Pines Arts and Cultural Foundation, will include activities for every age group, including yoga, crafts, special summer sun related events, food, and more.

Registered yoga instructor Gina Mead, and Paige Taylor who teaches boot-camp classes, will kick things off at 10:30 a.m. with 20-30 minutes of family boot camp on the athletic field at Elk Ridge Park, followed by 30 minutes of yoga. Both classes are designed for all ages and are free. Bring a water bottle and a yoga mat.

At noon, enjoy the Summer Solstice sculpture experience. Witness a ray of sunshine passing through the Summer Solstice sculptures marking the official first day of summer. Mary Williams, the local artist who designed the Solstice sculptures, will be on hand to answer questions and explain her work.

Win Pendleton, retired astronomy professor and a docent from The Wildlife Experience, will set up a telescope with a solar filter for folks to view the sun. For additional information, visit
