Castle Cup’s 10th anniversary edition

Saturday, September 12, marked the 10th go-round for the Castle Cup, a men’s tennis and golf extravaganza, to celebrate the end of The Village at Castle Pines (CPV) men’s 4.0 tennis team season.
The men played tennis in CPV before heading to Lone Tree Golf Club for 18 holes in scramble form, followed by an evening celebration hosted by John Rameriz and his wife, Lee.
In the end it was Alex Mercer, one of the originals to play in the inaugural event, who prevailed as champion. He had twice come in second place but this was his first time securing the win. With random partners and pairs, it is a team effort. Alex gave shout outs to Greg Nelson and Brian McDonald for their assists on the court and course, respectively.
Mark Voss, the unofficial leader of the Castle Cup, noted it was special to see one of the old-timers of the event take the win. During his speech, he offered two golf day stats: closest to the pin was secured by Alex and longest drive was made by Azim Khan.
As is tradition, Alex’s name will be engraved on the trophy and he will celebrate it by bringing it along for adventures throughout the year, Flat Stanley style.
“It was a really fun day again. The Castle Cup doesn’t happen without Mark Voss. It’s always fun, no matter who wins,” concluded Alex.
Drum roll please … the 2026 Castle Cup champion is Alex Mercer (pictured right). Alex, a resident of The Village at Castle Pines, is one of the original men to play in the Cup.
