Meet Timber Trail’s new assistant principal

The start of the school year brought the excitement of getting acquainted with friends, meeting new teachers and staff and welcoming Sierra Weil, Timber Trail Elementary’s (TTE) new assistant principal. Sierra feels right at home as she has been part of the Douglas County School District since 2012.

Born in Denver, Sierra grew up in Salt Lake City, a move her family made when she was 4 years old. Her desire to be a teacher brought her back to Colorado where she attended the University of Northern Colorado and earned her degree in elementary education. Sierra has taught fourth and fifth grade in Parker and at Buffalo Ridge Elementary (BRE), teaching alongside TTE’s current principal Robert Thelen who was then assistant principal at BRE.

“Sierra is a true instructional leader who genuinely loves serving others. She comes to work every day with a positive attitude, an incredible work ethic and a motor that never seems to stop,” said Robert.

Sierra is mom to Jaden (21) and Adysen (17) who have been two of her greatest teachers. Raising her kids has given her the experience and knowledge that has shaped her to be the heart of her classroom. “I know what it is like to hand over your child to a school and trust,” added Sierra.

Sierra’s relationship with her students, their families and other educators is what drives her passion and she believes everyone should work together to make a difference. “I believe in building good humans and build on their strengths. Kids need to be seen for who they are to be successful individuals,” said Sierra.

When not in class, Sierra enjoys the great outdoors: camping, paddleboarding or enjoying a new adventure with her family.

“Sierra brings energy, passion, and a relentless commitment to doing what’s best for students and staff,” concluded Robert. “She is an outstanding addition to our leadership team and we are incredibly lucky to have her at Timber Trail.”
