County communications team honored with national awards

Keeping residents informed about the decisions and services of county government is a priority for Douglas County. It is important work locally that has now earned national recognition.
The Douglas County Department of Communication & Community Engagement received two awards in September from the City-County Communications & Marketing Association during the organization’s annual Savvy Awards. The national program has honored excellence in local government communications for more than 30 years.
Douglas County received an Award of Excellence for The Douglas County Neighbor, the County’s magazine that is produced fully in-house by Douglas County staff and delivered quarterly to more than 150,000 homes and businesses throughout the county. Each issue combines photography and design with stories about County projects, community highlights, messages from County leadership and resources for residents.
Douglas County’s second award––the Silver Circle Award–– recognized the 2025 State of Douglas County, a multimedia presentation highlighting accomplishments made possible through partnerships across the community. The program shared measurable progress in public safety, transportation, parks, services for vulnerable residents and efforts to secure the county’s water future.
Congratulations to Douglas County and the Communication & Community Engagement staff for this well-deserved recognition.
