DCSO raises $8K while participating in the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics

With a team of 50 (although not everyone participated in the actual plunge), Team DCSO BrrrITE Blue Line was ready to take the Polar Plunge in the Aurora Reservoir on February 11.

On February 11, members of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) took a chilly dip in the Aurora Reservoir for a great cause.  Team DCSO BrrrITE Blue Line, named in honor of Detective Dan Brite, raised a total of $8,729 for Special Olympics, making them the top team for this event.

Sheriff Tony Spurlock is very passionate about Special Olympics, and the DCSO participates in several fundraising events throughout the year to help support the athletes.  Programs include Tip A Cop, Law Enforcement Torch Run, Plane Pull, and, of course, the Polar Plunge.  DCSO members are always encouraged to participate, and they do so with enthusiasm, and, in the case of the Polar Plunge, a few goosebumps!

Despite being knocked into the water after his jousting event, Sheriff Spurlock was all smiles.
