Construction contract approved for improvements to Coyote Ridge Park
At July 14’s City of Castle Pines City Council meeting, Council approved the award of a construction contract to Colorado Designscapes, Inc. for the Phase 1 improvements to Coyote Ridge Park.
These improvements, estimated to cost nearly $4 million, will include new shade structures and picnic tables, playground improvements, fencing at the basketball court, a new baseball field, bike racks and more. For more information, visit CastlePinesCO.gov/Coyote-Ridge-Park-Improvements.
South Havana Street alignment now open
The newly-aligned South Havana Street is officially open to traffic. Drivers will temporarily stop at a new stop sign on South Havana Street until permanent traffic signals are installed this fall.
The new alignment improves connectivity east of I-25 by reducing the number of intersections and creating a more direct connection to a future roadway within The Canyons commercial area. In the coming weeks, crews will demolish and remove the old section of South Havana Street.

City Council approves additional work for Castle Pines Parkway reconstruction project
During last month’s City Council meeting, Council approved expanding the limits of the 2026 Castle Pines Parkway reconstruction project. The project will now replace the concrete roadway between Forest Park Drive and the Buffalo Trail roundabout with asphalt. This section was originally scheduled for maintenance, but crews found the concrete was more damaged than expected and required a more extensive replacement.
The new asphalt will provide a quieter, smoother driving surface and create a roadway designed to last for many years. Completing the work as part of this year’s project will also save money and reduce the amount of time needed compared with waiting until next year.
The additional work will be completed within the existing construction schedule, and the entire 2026 Castle Pines Parkway project (between Monarch Boulevard the Buffalo Trail roundabout) is still expected to be completed by early fall 2026.
The additional cost for the added work (Forest Park Drive to Buffalo Trail) is an increase of $452,000. The total 2026 project (Monarch Boulevard to Buffalo Trail) is now budgeted at $3.8 million. This total includes substantial funding from the Castle Pines North Metropolitan District for work related to the water line infrastructure replacement.
