Garden Club fun on the runway and in the sun
After working on the Memorial Garden at Cherokee Ranch & Castle, Garden Club members gathered for brunch on the terrace.
The Village Castle Pines Garden Club (Garden Club) has been busy this spring and summer.
In May, more than 100 members and guests attended the Garden Club’s annual fashion show and luncheon at the Hilton Denver Inverness. Some of the members were models, walking down the runway in an array of casual to evening dress.
Models wore collections from local partners Brenda Zdanowicz of Parker Panache, GeGe Howard representing A Line Boutique, and designer Borris Powell, whose original creations brought haute couture to the event.
Avery Kyle from The Party Hype was emcee and DJ and maintained an upbeat vibe throughout the event. The Garden Club also recognized incoming officers for 2026-27: President Liane Mair, Vice President Carol Lewis, Secretary Cheryl Porter and Treasurer Diane Wolfert. This is the last event of the Garden Club’s fiscal year.
“It was a joyful morning of fashion, friendship and celebration,” stated President Liane Mair. “Our member models did an amazing job, bringing personality and pizzazz to the runway.”
Also in May, the Garden Club did maintenance on Cherokee Castle & Ranch’s (Castle) Memorial Garden. This was opening day for the Garden and an annual event for the Garden Club.
Committee Chair Libby Drbal and her team organized a morning of gardening and fellowship.
Following the garden work, members enjoyed brunch on the Castle’s main terrace, graciously arranged by Marilyn Duckett, Director of Operations at the Castle. Members also had the opportunity to meet new Executive Director Greg Vigil and listen to stories shared by several of Tweet Kimball’s grandchildren.
In June, Garden Club Co-Chairs Susan McGuinn and Liz Davis led volunteers in a productive morning of cleanup and planting, preparing Serenity Garden in Castle Rock for another beautiful growing season.
Following their work, members gathered at the Pavilion for a picnic lunch and conversation. Liz surprised attendees with charming miniature silver buckets planted with tiny flowers, which were warmly appreciated by all.
