About 200 parents, teachers, administrators and other supporters of the Timber Trail Education Association (TTEA) enjoyed a night on the town and raised funds for Timber Trail Elementary (TTE) at an upscale event in April at Cielo at Castle Pines. An evening of dining and dancing was also an evening of bidding on items that ranged from garden tools to golf.

“We raised $35,000 to offset significant budget cuts for next school year,” said the event organizer, Kristen Narlinger. “We are allowed to use the funds to pay for consumables such as text books and work books.”

Local celebrity Dave Fraser, who is chief meteorologist of KDVR FOX 31 and “News on The Deuce,” hosted the evening and ran the live auction. Fraser has two sons who are students at TTE.

“This is a great way to ensure that our kids get the necessary resources for a quality education,” said Fraser. “It’s also a great way for parents to get out and socialize and meet as a cohesive unit. We all want the same things for our kids and it’s nice to have some shared experiences.”

The event boasted an online auction, a silent auction, and a live auction, and winners will have a variety of experiences – everything from kids whose parents purchased the chance for them to be “principal for the day,” to wine tastings, pizza parties, and chiropractic services.

“We’re just so appreciative of all the parent support and the wonderful turnout at this event,” said Michelle Radke, TTE Principal. “It’s great to get together, have fun and support the school. Kristen Narlinger and her committee have done an outstanding job.”

The TTEA has tentatively planned that auctions like this one will happen every other year, so next they plan to focus on other events, “funraisers” as they call them.

“We’ll do other things, such as the daddy/daughter ball, mother/son kickball tourney, and a possible school picnic,” said Narlinger.
