American Academy students recently placed eighth in the Math Counts state competition. The students competed with 25 other teams from schools throughout the state. Congratulations to Shawn Ong, Nick Collins, JD Gordon and Matthew Haney.
“Making it to the state competition, both individually and as a team is an enormous achievement,” said American Academy Math Department Chair Diane Veazie.
Shawn Ong also placed eighth out of 200 students in the individual competition. The students worked weekly since last August to prepare for the competition.
