Cashmere on the hoof, ooh-bah-bah

Article and photo by Patte Smith

Neighbors in the 80108 ZIP code decided to handle fire mitigation around their property with three cashmere goats.  Mommy goat Katie, little goat Troubles, and leader of the pack Fluffy have successfully trimmed many scrub oaks and munched oodles of weeds.

“We are getting attached to the goats,” noted the homeowners.  “We enjoy treating them with apples and getting to know their personalities.  The whole purpose of borrowing these goats is to help with fire prevention.  So far we have moved them to three separate areas on the property and they have chomped away.  We are animal lovers so this has been a fun experience for us.”
