County “Shred-a-thon” to benefit local charities

On July 24, Douglas County residents can clean up and help a good cause at the same time. The Douglas County “Shred-a-thon,” an electronics recycling and personal documents shredding event, will be held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., at Burt.com Stadium, 11901 Newlin Gulch Blvd., in Parker.

Donations will be collected at the event to benefit the Castle Rock and Parker Food Banks. For personal documents shredding, residents may bring up to three boxes or bags of paper. Unlimited, yet specific personal items for electronics recycling will be accepted.

There will be a disposal fee of $10 for each CRT computer monitor and any size television. Fees will fund the environmentally responsible disposal of materials within these electronics.

For a complete list of acceptable items for recycling, visit http://www.douglas.co.us/2010_Shred_A_Thon. html.
