The Ihme Family Golf Tournament supporting Children’s Hospital Colorado raised more than $21,000 during its event on June 13 at the Highlands Ranch Golf Club. This year’s tournament raised the most yet, helping the family reach a total of nearly $140,000 since the tournament’s inception in 2003.

Castle Pines father and son duos Chris & Blake Patterson and Brad & Trevor White took first place in the event, while a host of others from the community played and sponsored the event.

“It was pretty exciting to hit our goal of raising over $20,000 this year. We had great support from the people of Castle Pines and surrounding neighborhoods,” shared Steve Ihme, one of the event organizers. Ihme started the tournament to support the hospital that treated his brother, Rich, who lost his battle to leukemia 29 years ago.

In addition to a great day of golf, the event included yummy food, a fabulous silent auction, and a special visit from Ella, a bone marrow transplant recipient and ambassador from Children’s Colorado. There was also an opportunity for participants to take part in a bone marrow drive on behalf of Castle Pines resident Lukas Larson, who is seeking a match.

The Ihme Family would like to thank each and every person who helped make this year’s event possible. Save the date for next year’s event, which is planned for June 12, 2015.
