Free document shredding event August 9

By Lisa Crockett

Secure document shredding, provided by Shred-It, will be available free of charge to the Castle Pines community on Saturday August 9 from 9 a.m. until noon at the DCS Montessori School.

Participants in the event will be invited to make a voluntary donation to DCS Montessori’s school technology fund. The event is sponsored by the Allstate Tammy Lopez Agency, The Castle Pines Connection, The City of Castle Pines, and DCS Montessori School.

Last year, residents came out in force to shred nearly 8,000 pounds of paper, a tradition Lopez looks forward to continuing.

“As an insurance agent, I really see the importance of shredding sensitive information,” said Lopez, who started the event last year. “Protecting people’s personal data by destroying it is a great way to prevent identity theft.”

DCS Montessori School features ample parking and will also allow participants to simply “drive through” to drop off their documents. Two shredding trucks will be on site to ensure efficient service. There is no limit to the amount of documents that participants are allowed to shred at the event.

DCS Montessori School is located at 311 Castle Pines Parkway in Castle Pines. For more information about the event, contact by e-mail.
