Mid-year school supply boost

four teachers stand holding donations

These teachers are all smiles after attending the Foundation for Douglas County Schools first mid-year Lend A Hand School Supply Drive in January 2023. Teachers were incredibly grateful to replenish classroom supplies.

The Foundation for Douglas County Schools will once again host a mid-year supply drive for teachers. The Lend A Hand School Supply Drive will take place during the month of January.

This annual event is a great way to support area teachers by helping replenish classroom supplies for the second half of the year. More than 110 teachers benefited from the event last year.

The community-at-large can support this great cause by shopping and dropping off donated items between January 3 and January 26 at any Douglas County Libraries location, including Castle Pines. Office Depot locations in Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch and Parker are also collection sites, making for an easy way to shop and donate all at once.

The most needed items include: calculators, card stock, colored pencils, disinfecting wipes, dry erase markers (regular and fine tip), glue sticks, graph paper, hand sanitizer, headphones, index cards, markers (regular and fine tip), pocket folders (with and without brads), red pens, scissors (elementary and secondary), sticky notes and tissues.

Donated items will be readied for a teacher Grab’N’Go event at Canvas Credit Union in Lone Tree on January 30 and 31 between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. It is a simple and easy way to help teachers.

The Foundation for Douglas County Schools works to enrich student experience and promote innovation. The Foundation is an independent charitable organization that develops private resources to support students and schools. Learn more at www.foundationdcs.org/lendahand.
