Missoula Children’s Theater coming to town

By Lisa Crockett

The Missoula Children’s Theater (MCT), a Montana arts group aimed at allowing children to participate in the performing arts, will spend a week in residency at Rocky Heights Middle School. The one-week program takes participants through the process of putting on a play, in this case “The Wizard of Oz,” from audition to final performance. Additionally, MCT will also host three 45-minute acting workshops for kids in the community who are not participating in the play.

Auditions will be held on July 14 at Rocky Heights Middle School from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Those auditioning should arrive at 12:15 p.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the auditions.

Children entering first through twelfth grades are encouraged to audition. Assistant directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities. Advance preparation and pre-registration are not necessary. Tuition for children who are cast in the show will be $55.

Auditions will be held on July 14, with two final performances on July 19. The program is being co-sponsored by the Castle Pines Arts and Cultural Foundation and Cherokee Castle & Ranch. For additional details, visit www.castlepinesarts.org.
